Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of the Baton desktop application and website (collectively, the "Service"), operated by Tafjord Invest AS ("we", "us", "our"). By using the Service, you agree to these terms.

1. The Service

Baton is a desktop application that lets you run multiple AI coding agents in parallel using git worktree-isolated workspaces. The free tier allows up to 4 concurrently running workspaces. A paid license unlocks unlimited workspaces.

2. License

When you purchase a Baton license, you receive a perpetual, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the software. Each license is valid for one user and may be activated on up to two devices simultaneously.

A license is a perpetual, one-time purchase. The software continues to work indefinitely. We may offer paid upgrades for future major versions, but your licensed version will always remain functional.

3. Free Tier

The free tier is provided as-is, with no obligation on our part. We reserve the right to modify or discontinue the free tier at any time. The workspace limit for the free tier may change.

4. Payments

All payments are processed by Stripe. Prices are listed in US dollars and include any applicable taxes. By completing a purchase, you agree to Stripe's terms of service.

7. Intellectual Property

Baton, its logo, website content, and all associated materials are the intellectual property of Tafjord Invest AS. Your license grants usage rights only — it does not transfer ownership of any intellectual property.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We do not guarantee that the software will be error-free, uninterrupted, or compatible with all systems or third-party AI agents.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Tafjord Invest AS shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses resulting from your use of the Service.

Our total liability for any claim arising from the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid for your license.

10. AI Utilities

Baton includes built-in AI utility features (such as automatic workspace and branch naming) that are enabled by default. These features send your first prompt for a new workspace to a Baton-managed inference service. This service is currently provided free of charge; we reserve the right to modify, limit, or discontinue it at any time.

Prompts sent to the AI utility service are not stored and are processed by providers that do not train on your data. You can disable AI utilities or configure your own provider in the app settings. See our Privacy Policy for details on data handling.

11. Third-Party Services

Baton integrates with third-party AI coding agents (Claude Code, Codex CLI, etc.) and third-party AI inference providers for utility features. We are not responsible for the availability, performance, or terms of these third-party services. Your use of them is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies.

12. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your license if you violate these terms. Upon termination, your right to use the paid features ceases. You may continue to use the free tier unless separately restricted.

13. Governing Law

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Norway. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Norway.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
